Launch of Accountable Northwest

Five years ago, we launched the Northwest Accountability Project to combat the growing tide of moneyed special interests seeking to undermine working families in Washington and Oregon. We’ve exposed the billionaires and corporations trying to slash wages and benefits for workers, dismantle labor unions, and privatize our public schools.

Out-of-state mega-funders like the Kochs and Bradley Foundation pour money into local front groups to do their bidding, hoping to further stack the deck in favor of the rich.

We traced that “dark money” to outfits like the so-called “Freedom” Foundation and the Washington “Policy” Center. We’ve exhaustively tracked, investigated, and exposed these groups, educating, and empowering the public.

These groups said they would destroy unions in the Northwest. They haven’t. Unions are growing. These groups said they would turn Washington and Oregon into “Red” States. They haven’t. These groups said they would privatize public education. They haven’t. These anti-worker groups have proven to be a monumental failure even after spending tens of millions of dollars. However, the avalanche of money from out-of-state billionaires hasn’t stopped, so neither will we. 

We’re rebranding and expanding. Under our new name Accountable Northwest, you’ll see us investigating a more comprehensive range of bad actors that want to undermine working families, our communities and our schools.
